The other day, when i was on medical leave sleeping at home, nurse from gynae clinic called and said "Ms. Mok, we confirmed you have Alpha Talassemia(minor) 地中海貧血”。Im not surprise with　the result as my GP did ask me to go for a thorough blood check since the report in medic check shows my blood corpuscle is smaller. Then, calmly i went to see the gynae, thinking of how to tell my bf, how to give him correct info on what test he needs to do, lucky there is a japanese interpreter in the hospital so she told me how to say the medic term in japanese and what test exactly my bf need to do. Gynae is not so supportive (thinking of changing to another one), his explanation is very simple, get your husband blood test result show me, if he has the same blood defect, your bb will have 75% chances of getting severe talassemia which is a fatal one. If 1 party have then "no problem". What does no problem means? When i heard the word "no problem" , im so relieve and when i tell my bf, he is always the sweet heart who will say... "dont worry". I kept this worry off my mind for a while until today when i really read through in the internet what this Talassemia is all about. Alway plp relate mild talassemia as anemia, like me plp say take more iron , drink more red dates boil with water etc.. but i just dont know that this doesnt help at all.. is all about inborn defect in blood cell. The more i read, the more worries. In the article says, if 1 have alpha talassemia, the person is just like normal person, can lead a healthy life with just slight anemia and when 1 party of couple have alpha talassemia, bb will have 50% chance of getting alpha too. Is this what doc is telling me no problem? Regardless my bf have this defect or not my bb will have 50% chance of getting alpha.. eventhough alpha is said to be not severe, but i will like to know, whether the blood cell will deform further. Then i tried to find out all source of info from internet, i found this association /support group of malaysia, when i call to ask whether they provide counselling, they said Tak Tau..Now i can only wait for bf test result, another few days to wait.. going crazy already..
