I NOT STUPID

I not stupid, ok la, ok meh.. all the mang-lish i speak from my childhood even now. And now Yuta is sometimes speaking just like me (not the i not stupid) and i got warning from my husband every now and then saying "you would better speak proper english to Yuta". I dont find it wrong for Yuta to speak this way (at least for now) and even sometimes i find it cute when he says, ok meh. Infact he learned this OK MEH, from my husband and not me. My question how far should you go to speak like an american. I sometimes find it ought for some people who go out all the way wanted to speak and sound like a native english speaker. I speak mang-lish/sing-lish doesnt mean i couldnt speak proper english, i think this is a way of representing our identity of who we are. Not long ago there was a tv program here that broadcasted about the native hawaiian speaker, who get discriminate for speaking pidgin (hawaiian form of mang-lish). It was just so lucky we dont get this kind of discrimination in Malaysia. When you are living abroad, you wanna find a chnce to speak just like what you used to speak and i feel closer to home when i speak this way with fellow friends from malaysia or the same region. A mixture of english, malay, chinese, hokkien, sometimes in japanese all in one sentence, who can do it hoho. Though learning proper english is essential, i dont feel like we should totally speak the universal way just for compliance sake.
