Parentig skill

As far as parentig and how to raise our kid is concerned, my husbad and i are on the same page. We both agree that as of now, we want to bring up Yuta as our "friend" /buddy. We dont mean that other issues like discipline is least important but we think bonding and connection are as important. People here like to use" Time out" to teach their kids discipline, i do give Yuta time out sometimes but i try not get him to stand at that corner just because he doesnt want to have his lunch. Maybe im the lame parent or im lacking behind but sometimes i really found the word "time out" irritating. The other time when i brought Yuta to the clinic there was a mom who told her boy "if you are not XX i will give you time out" for over 10 times in just minutes. Recently i get so sick of the word time out and found myself so tired trying to explain things to Yuta. When i bring him to the park, i have to make sure he is not fighting with kids, if he does i will have to pull him over quickly and tell him, "no, this is not nice, you must share.. blah.." etc.. learning how to talk with kids is an art LOL. When other kids come and bother him, i have to tell them "i think he is not ready to sharen his toys now, will you let him play first.. blah" . i cant imagine myself talking in such a nice tone sometimes... LOL amazing. it is very rewarding when i really spend time and talk to him and he listens but that is only when i have the extra energy and in good mood. Many of the moms that i know are very strict and particular on their children behaviour/discipline, so a playdate to me doesnt mean you or your kids get to play but you will hear "i will give you time out " times after times. I wont give Yuta time out unless he doesnt listen to me after 2 warnings and sometimes i found a little bit rigid when you punish your kid just because he/she doesnt want to have their lunch "now", i mean we adult sometimes dont feel like eating now, so whats wrong with eating a little later.. And many of the moms do not allow their children to watch TV. so my yuta is like one of the happiest guy because i on the tv all the time but neither me or he is watching. There were times that friends and children came to my place to play and they requested me to OFF my TV at my house? and there were times that Yuta was crying so badly because he was hungry and i wanted to feed him and i was told NO becauce it was not time for their kids to eat yet. Sometimes i have to 2nd guess my parenting skill, is really following schedule strictly so important that there is no room for some flexibility? Today i heard the word "lazy parenting" from the program Super Nanny. It suddenly strikes me that whether a not im one of the Lazy parent. While other moms is asking me to read the book "how to raise great kids" but i still prefer to read something like "how to raise kids without screaming."

Good for you and your hubby. You both made the right decision to be buddies to your son.
